Regata de rabelos - S. João do Porto

No dia de São João decorreu a regata de rabelos. Estava um belo dia e deu para tirar umas fotos.
(At São João's day there was a boat race with "rabelos", the boats that were traditionally used to transport the port wine from the vines upstream to the caves. It was a beautiful day and I could take some photos.)

Ontem fui pela primeira vez divertir-me na noite de São João. Uma verdadeira animação!!! Infelizmente não tenho fotos porque como ia andar Kms não levei a máquina ;)

(Yesterday I went to enjoy the night of "Sao Joao". It is a unique, massive party, where everybody goes to the streets to hit the others on their heads with plastic hammers(!!!). It is very fun and difficult to describe. You can check a small article from The Guardian about it, here. Unfortunately I do not have any photos. I did not take the camera with me as I was planning to walk for miles together with thousands of other people...)

Serralves em festa

Este fim-de-semana Serralves esteve em festa! Foi uma excelente oportunidade para passear num belo jardim, ouvir música nova,
ir ao teatro,
e ver espectáculos muito originais.
e tudo com amigos :)

Que belo fim-de-semana!

(This weekend was the "Serralves festival". It was a great opportunity to watch (and listen) art in beautiful surroudings. We had music, theatre, and other interesting events. It was a great weekend!)

Futebol

Ontem eu, uns amigos, e uma multidão de gente assistimos ao jogo da Selecção de uma forma muito original...
(Yesterday, me, some friends and loads of other people found a very original way to watch the Portugal-Turkey football game...)

Passo a explicar: o jogo foi acompanhado por música ao vivo! Pois, na realidade não é fácil de explicar... Vou tentar. O jogo foi transmitido num écran gigante e por baixo tínhamos uma banda que ia tocando música conforme o jogo decorria. Eles iam adaptando a música ao jogo. É um bocadinho difícil de imaginar. E ao mesmo tempo estava a lá o Gabriel Alves a relatar. Curiosamente esta grande misturada funcionou! :)

(So what happened? Well, the game was being shown at the same time as a band was playing. And the funny thing was that the band was adapting its music to the game itself. I guess it is a bit difficult to imagine but I can tell you that it worked quite nicelly! )

Nem queria acreditar

Hoje vi um grupo de jovens a jogar críquete! (Sim, no Porto!!) Eh pá...

(I couldn't even believe it when today I saw a group of youngsters playing cricket here in Porto!!)

Borboletas (butterflies)

Em Londres fui a uma exposição de borboletas no Natural History Museum. Tirei imensas fotografias!! Aqui ficam algumas interessantes, de borboletas a alimentarem-se.

(Whilst in London, I went to an exhibition of living butterflies at the Natural History Museum. Here are some of the several photos that I took, with feeding butterflies.)

Comida

Como toda a gente sabe, a comida Inglesa não é propriamente fantástica. Mas em Londres come-se comida do mundo inteiro! Na semana passada comi coisas Inglesas, Polacas, Japonesas, Chinesas, Francesas, Italianas, Mexicanas, Turcas,... e um belo fondue de chocolate!
Esta foto foi tirada num restaurante Turco. E esta acho que dá para perceber o que é ;)

(Although British food is not fantastic, while in London one always has the chance to eat all sorts of different dishes from several countries. Last week I had English, Polish, Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian, Mexican and Turquish food, and a superb chocolat fondue!! The photos above were taken at a Turquish restaurant and the other you can guess...)

Voltei!

... de Londres!! Pois é, fui passar uns dias a Londres, com a desculpa de ir à cerimónia de graduação. A cerimónia foi na quarta e aqui estou eu na foto com umas amigas. A cerimónia foi gira, no Royal Albert Hall, assim uma coisa muito formal. Éramos umas centenas, entre Doutorados (vestidos com esta capa vermelha, e incluindo o Brian May, dos Queen) e Mestrados (vestidos com uma capa preta).

(I'm back from London. I went there for my graduation ceremony, which happened at the Royal Albert Hall. It was a very formal and beautiful ceremony with hundreds of PhD (all dressed with the red gown) and MSc (dressed with black gowns). Here I am with friends, wearing my red gown.)
